Margo Chiasson

President

Margo Chiasson has been involved with Hurricanes basketball for over 10 years serving as a board member, head coach, assistant coach, team manager and mom to 3 Hurricane players. Sport has been a life-long passion for Margo including experiences playing basketball and rugby at STFXU. Margo is well known in the community as a French immersion teacher at LeMarchant St. Thomas Elementary where she has taught many Hurricane players. She looks forward to combining her passion for sport and experience teaching and coaching youth in her role as President of the Halifax Hurricanes.

Mitch Eliasson

Vice President

Mitch Eliasson has assisted with the Hurricanes since he started as a non-parent coach in 2012, and has served on the board in various capacities during the period of 2015 to 2020 and 2022 to present, currently in the role of Vice President. Now with 2 young kids of his own, he enjoys being a parent coach at a more introductory level of basketball. Mitch has a legal background and works for a local real estate development company.


Danny De Palma

Administrative and Technical Director

Danny De Palma has been pursing his passion of helping people and sharing a love for basketball for nearly 15 years. Starting as a head coach for Charles P. Allen, Danny has coached at the Provincial level for four years with Basketball Nova Scotia (2016 U17 Boys National Champions), assisted at Acadia University with both the Axewomen and Axemen for seven seasons (Two AUS Championships), and currently is the head coach of the MSVU Mystics Men's team (2022 ACAA Champions). De Palma is entering his second year with the Halifax Hurricanes as Administrative and Technical Director.

Danette Foster

Treasurer

Danette Foster started with Halifax Hurricanes Basketball when her daughter joined 4 years ago for U10, as she became interested in playing the sport. Thanks to a wonderful coach, her daughter stayed and Danette joined the Board to serve as Treasurer; she is enthusiastically starting her 3rd year. She uses both her skills as a CPA and a mom to assist with the Finance/Taxation issues that arise for non-profit organizations.


Diana Khosla

Secretary

Diana Khosla has been involved with Halifax Hurricanes Basketball as a mom to two Hurricanes players for the past two years. Thanks to amazing and dedicated coaches, her children continue to develop, thrive, and love the sport. Diana is excited to join the board this year and will serve as Corporate Secretary. Diana is a CPA and partner at a professional services firm.

Andrew Ling

Director of Player and Coach Development

Andrew Ling has been a volunteer with the Halifax Hurricanes for 10 years as a coach and 4 years as a board member. He grew up playing with the Canadian Martyrs through his childhood and is happy to be giving back to the basketball club. He works at RBC as a Business Account Manager and is a Mental Performance Consultant.


Paul MacInnis

Director at Large (Player and Coach Development)

Paul MacInnis is the co-owner of Soulo Projects, where he leverages his wide-ranging entrepreneurial experience across multiple industries and markets. He first came to the Hurricanes as a coach for his daughter's team. It was a meaningful and rewarding experience in which he got to know and support incredible young people as they develop as athletes and human beings. As a Board Member At Large, Paul is focused on coach recruitment and development.


Teresa Burns

Director at Large (Mini Canes)

Teresa Burns has been involved with Hurricanes Basketball for the past 2 years, when her eldest child joined the small ball program. Teresa has always been involved in sports, especially soccer and basketball, both as a player and coach. She started coaching basketball at the age of 15 and continued her athletic career, playing basketball and soccer at Sf. F X. Teresa works as a dentist at Spring Garden Dentistry and enjoys spending time with her husband and 4 kids (1 current and 3 future Mini Canes)! Teresa looks forward to her role as Director of the Mini Canes Program.
